About
In 1986, I was fortunate enough to be part of an amazing cast of improvisers at Northwestern University. We performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival that year, and then I left improv behind for 23 years. I jumped back in with a class at Wing-It Productions, and haven’t stopped since, performing with Wing-It, Unexpected Productions, and my own group, Interrobang?! Improv. Two years in, it feels like time to start collecting thoughts: where I’ve been, where I’m going, and where I want to go with improv.
Mostly, this will be about improv: notes from rehearsals, notes on performances, and more general theory.
Occasionally, it will probably delve into the realm of writing as well, since that’s one of my other creative passions. But mostly, it’ll be about improv.
The name of the blog comes from Plato: “You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.”
The photo at the top of each page is from “Ka-Boom: Kid/Adult Super-Mega Improv Explosion,” a show some friends of mine and I created with my son Zach (I’m just below the crop).
Thanks for visiting.
